Man arrested in Logan County, WV murder case

LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WYMT/WSAZ) - A man has been charged with murder in the death of a 2-year-old boy.

West Virginia State Police says Nicholas Turkale has been arrested and charged with child neglect resulting in death and murder.

Troopers say they responded Tuesday to a home in Amherstdale and found the little boy with severe head injuries. He was flown to a Charleston hospital and died Wednesday morning.

Troopers say Turkale is the live-in boyfriend of the child's mother. Both were home at the time of the incident. Troopers say they were told the boy was climbing on a sink when he fell and hit his head. State police say further investigation lead them to determine that statement to be inaccurate.

Troopers say the boy died from head trauma but are not releasing any more details surrounding what happened.

State police say they do not expect to make more arrests.
