LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police have arrested a man they say conned a patient with Alzheimer's out of thousands of dollars.

32-year-old Jesse Delautre is charged with exploitation of an adult, and possessing forged instruments.

Court documents show that Delautre wrote letters to the victim, posing as his mother, asking for money for cancer treatments.

He admitted to modifying the checks which he received from his request.

Altogether police say Delautre deceived the victim out of $3,800.

He is currently being lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center.
