Man convicted of Letcher County murder loses motion to avoid life sentence

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A man who pleaded guilty in a high profile murder case will continue to serve a life sentence.

Donald Terry Bartley lost his most recent motion to avoid the life sentence.

He pleaded guilty in 1988 to taking part in the August 1985 murder of Tammy Acker and the robbery and attempted murder of her father, Doctor Roscoe Acker, in Letcher County.
