Man dies from flu in Northern Kentucky

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Health officials in northern Kentucky say a Campbell County man has died from complications of the flu.

The Northern Kentucky Health Department said Friday that the victim had other underlying medical conditions. They would not release the victim's age or the nature of those conditions, nor would they say when he died.

They say it's the first flu-related death in northern Kentucky this season. Statewide, they say there are widespread reports of flu activity, and in northern Kentucky more than 550 cases have been reported so far.

To prevent spreading the flu, health officials recommend covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and washing your hands often, especially after coughing or sneezing.

In most cases, flu can be treated at home with fever-reducing medication, rest and liquids.
