Man found dead, 2 people emaciated at hotel

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A man has been found dead in a Lexington hotel room where police also discovered two people who were alive but emaciated.

Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts told the Lexington Herald-Leader police believe the two people found alive are adults but that at least one may have mental disabilities or a physical handicap. Both were taken to a hospital.

Police were called Wednesday after someone found the people in a room at Knights Inn on Stanton Way north of Interstate 75.

The dead man was identified as 24-year-old Gerald Lee Lakes. The cause of death hadn't been determined, and an autopsy was scheduled.

Detectives were trying to determine whether someone was supposed to have been taking care of the two people found alive.
