ROCKHOLDS, Ky, (WKYT) - A passer-by driving on Flat Creek Road ays he was startled when someone ran up to his car just after 8 Saturday night and beat on the windshield.

That driver didn’t stop but tells WKYT he called police. Moments later deputies arrived and found a man stipped naked and in their words, 'left for dead' near Granny Rose Hollow, in the Rockholds community of Knox County near the Whitley County line.

EMT’s were called and police say the victim, who was covered in blood, was airlifted to UK where he was being treated for critical injuries. Police say that man, Billy Barton, had been robbed and beaten.

Police say their investigation led them to Eaton Fork Road and on Mosley Branch. That’s where they arrested Garry Inman and another juvenile. Both were charged with first degree robbery, assault, and tampering with physical evidence.

Barton has relatives in Corbin where police say they were able to compile information which led them to the arrests.

Police aren’t releasing any information about a possible motive or how the suspects knew the victim. They say Barton was unconscious when they found him and wasn’t able to give them information about the attack.
