MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - A man accused of stealing more than 100 pounds of copper from AT&T in Bell County is now in jail.

36 year old Tommy Lee Upton was arrested in Middlesboro on unrelated charges.

Sheriff's deputies say in October, he took 120 pounds of copper from the phone lines in Bell County.

“Cutting it and dragging it through the woods and taking it up on the mountain, burning it, taking the copper out of it and then taking it off for money,” Deputy B.J. Brock said.

Upton is charged with theft from AT&T.

He is also wanted for unrelated charges in Morristown, Tennessee.
