WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) Crews rescued a man in Southern Kentucky Thursday.

Emergency teams freed a man after a beam fell on him underneath a home.

Only WYMT was there during the rescue around 3:00 Thursday on Shelby Hurst Road outside of Williamsburg.

The Whitley County sheriff tells us Roy Thomas was trying to thaw a frozen water line underneath a home when a beam fell on him and pinned him.

Crews used a chainsaw to cut Thomas free, then more tools to blow out the carbon monoxide and chainsaw smoke.

"He wasn't doing very well," said Whitley County Emergency Management Director Danny Moses, "as far a medically, I don't know but it didn't look good."

Officials say he had to be airlifted out for treatment.

We will continue to update this story as information becomes available.
