One man says he is a stabbing victim. The suspect's family says he stabbed in self-defense.
Barbourville police say 54 year old Lonnie Davis stabbed 57 year old Charles Danny Henson in a yard in the Dixon Trailer Park Sunday night.
WYMT's Angela Sparkman talked to both Henson when he got home from the hospital and Davis' family members about what happened.
Danny Henson has a stab wound in his stomach. He says his friend Lonnie Davis stabbed him
“I've known him for ten years and never seen that kind of violence out of him,” Henson said.
Police say the two men were drunk. Henson says they were at a neighbor's home in the Dixon Trailer Park and got into a fight.
“I was sitting in a chair and he kicked me for no reason. I was fighting and he pulled out his knife of his back pocket and stabbed me,” said Henson.
Barbourville police arrested and charged Davis with assault.
His brother Doug Davis who also lives in the neighborhood claims Henson started the fight.
He claims his brother only defended himself.
“I went into the house and the next thing I know, there was a fight and a stabbing,” Dough Davis said.
Police say Lonnie Davis made a statement to them but will not release what he said.
“Somehow it got out of hand with the alcohol involved,” Detective Steve Owens said.
Henson denies he made threats and says he feels lucky the wound is not serious, “It could've been much worse.”
Police are still investigating what happened.
Jail officials say Lonnie Davis posted a five thousand dollar bond and is on home incarceration.
