Man charged with murder of sheriff sentenced

MANCHESTER, Ky. (WYMT)- A Clay County jury found him guilty of killing a Clay County Sheriff more than 43 years ago and today the killer learned how long he will spend behind bars.

Oran Brumley was sentenced to life in prison. He was already in jail in Ohio in connection with another murder case.

Prosecutors say Brumley admitted to the 1969 shooting of 52-year-old sheriff James "Matt" Sizemore, but during the trial last month, Brumley took back that confession.
