A Knox County man is behind bars after police say he threatened to shoot himself. Neighbors in Girlder say he made quite a commotion and he even pointed the gun at them at times!
Neighbors on Hughes Branch Road who did not want to appear on camera say they heard the screams of 45 year-old Tracy Dillow while he was sitting on his lawn and holding a gun to his head Sunday morning.
"Late morning we received a call of a male subject at his residence who was threatening to kill himself. At that time we sent units to the residence," said Shane Jacobs with the Kentucky State Police.
Police say that after they found Dillow on his lawn with a gun in his hand, they left the area to decide what their next move would be.
"Got a plan together, we obtained paperwork for him, came back to the residence and started negotiating with this individual. A short time later, he surrendered the weapon and came out peacefully," Jacobs said.
State Police say officials were also concerned Dillow would hurt someone else.
"Anytime you have an individual who is out in the yard with a weapon, obviously there is a threat there to the neighbors so that's what we thought was maybe a possibility," said Jacobs.
Dillow is charged with wanton endangerment. Police say they consider him mentally ill and a danger to himself and others.
Dillow is being held on a $15,000 cash bond for his wanton endangerement charge. He is in the Knox County Jail.
