Man Injured In ATV Accident

Rescue crews loaded up a 68-year-old man into the helicopter as other rescue crews and concerned neighbors looked on.
Rescuers say the man lost control of his ATV, much like this one, around eight in the morning while out turkey hunting.

"Got into a spot where the vehicle tipped over and rolled down the hill. And at some point he released his safety belt and fell out of the vehicle after it rolled over the hill," said Pine Mountain Rescue PIO Sam Adams.

Rescuers say they found the man about a quarter of a mile to a mile just up this mountain. They said he was badly hurt but still responsive.

They say he was actually the one who called for help, on his cell phone.

"He was able to use his cell phone and notify his family that he'd had an accident," said Adams.

Family friends on scene said the man received bad head wounds, and one rescue worker said he had broken ribs as well.
