Man arrested in New York for death of Kentucky toddler

A man wanted for the death of a Kentucky toddler has been found by state and federal authorities. Kentucky State Police say 45-year-old Brian Brewster was living in New York.

State Police began looking for Brewster back in August after a Boyd County Grand Jury indicted him on a charge of manslaughter for the death of 16-month-old Cally Jobe. Police say Brewster was found around 8:00am Tuesday in Brooklyn. He now faces an additional charge of being a fugitive from justice.

Jobe died on May 3, 2011, after being flown to a West Virginia Hospital. Police say the toddler's mother, 19-year-old Lakyn Jobe, left her daughter with Brewster, who was an acquaintance living with her at the time. She told police she found Cally unresponsive when she returned home.

The West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office says Cally Jobe died of abusive closed head injuries. Police arrested Lakyn Jobe in August after the grand jury returned an indictment against her for criminal abuse.
