Many areas are still dealing with flooding, even as snow and sleet start to replace the rain. Some of the local major rivers are above flood stage and still rising. The good news is, many of the others have crested and will start to fall. The snow and sleet will continue through much of the day, before wrapping up tonight. Most areas will see several inches of accumulation. Keep it locked to WYMT for updates.
A man is found dead in Pike County and police said he was murdered.
Kentucky State Police have not released many details, but had enough information to put one man behind bars for allegedly shooting and killing another man in the Draffin community.
It might seem like a peaceful community, but Wednesday morning, Kentucky State Police said there was a violent act.
“Once they arrived on the scene, the deputy coroner was called out,” said Trooper Shaun Little.
A shooting on Pond Creek Road left one man dead and another in jail. Police said it happened at 3:30 a.m. and it did not take long to make an arrest.
Little said 39-year-old Everett Paul Norman of Belcher shot and killed 30-year-old Jesse Church of Harold.
“It is still under investigation by detective Jason Merlo,” said Little.
Police said they do not know how the two men knew each other, and do not know of any possible motive.
Norman is charged with murder and is being held in the Pike County detention center with no bond.
