A Knox County man is in jail after police said he tried to kidnap a Pineville woman.
Mark Burnette, 48, is charged with kidnapping and attempted sodomy. Pineville police arrested him after a woman said he threw her in his car near a grocery store in town.
That situation sparked the community alert from Kentucky State Police earlier in the week.
Since then, more women have come forward.
"He apparently approached a bunch of women - six or seven that we know of. He would start a conversation with them, and he would ask them if they wanted a ride, things like that. Then he would continue to follow them, even when they said no," said Charles Matthews, Pineville Police Chief.
Police said Burnette did not attack those women.
He is in the Bell County Detention Center, being held on a $50,000 bond.
