Man convicted of shooting learns how long he will spend behind bars

A man convicted of shooting his ex-girlfriend and nearly hitting her family and friends learns how long he will spend behind bars.

A Floyd County jury recommended a 26-year prison sentence for Jimmy Thacker Junior.

Thacker was arrested in the July 2010 shooting of Elizabeth Conn at her Floyd County home.

Thacker will not be eligible for parole until he has served 85% of the sentence.
