Corbin Police say Anthony and Linda Scott were in a PT Cruiser that got hit by a semi truck, sending it flying toward a restaurant.

"They pulled out in front of the tractor trailer and got hit. The car accelerated through the grass and ended up in the Wendy's," says Carolyn Elliot, a paramedic.

The accident happened just after 6:00 this morning at the Wendy's on 25E in Corbin. The driver, Anthony Scott was airlifted to UT Hospital where he later died. His passenger, Linda Scott, was taken to BRMC where she has serious injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured. Workers at Wendy's say it could have been much worse.

"Thank goodness we hadn't opened yet. We're very fortunate. If it was 12:00 or 1:00, you could see the people that are here now. It could have been a really bad situation," says Steve Mayer, Wendy's district manager.

They say by 10:00 AM, they had the mess cleaned up, windows boarded up, and were open for business.

"We had a construction crew here within an hour and a half and had lots of help cleaning up and getting everything back together," says Mayer.

Officials say there was one worker inside the restaurant at the time. She wasn't injured.
