A Whitley County man who allegedly tried to kill two people with a machete was charged with contempt of court Wednesday after an outburst in Whitley County District Court.

Officials say 40 year old James Fields began yelling at a judge after a motion was denied to dismiss attempted murder charges and his girlfriend was asked to leave the court room.

Fields is now being held in contempt of court for 150 days and his case is being sent to a grand jury.
