LONDON, Ky. (AP) - A southeastern Kentucky man is suing his doctors and hospital, saying he underwent unnecessary heart procedures.
The hospital is St. Joseph-London, owned by Saint Joseph Health System, the company that's proposing a merger with Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare and University Hospital in Louisville.
Edward Marshall of Laurel County told WHAS-TV that he's undergone 19 heart catheterizations and a pacemaker operation at the London hospital (http://bit.ly/nGR7SY ). He sued after two other cardiologists told him his latest heart procedures, including his pacemaker and a stent operation, weren't necessary.
Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives, which owns St. Joseph, told WHAS it is aware of the lawsuit and takes it seriously but can't comment on pending litigation.
