Man found dead in car, police call it a homicide

People who knew Jackie Bullock say they can't figure out why he would have been found dead at the bottom of a hill on Lone Oak Road in Rockcastle County, but investigators say it was a homicide.

34-year-old Jackie Bullock was found dead early yesterday morning. William Mink grew up with Bullock's father and says he was close to Jackie.

"It was a big shock to me because I thought a whole lot of him. He was a good friend," he says.

Investigators say Bullock was at a house on Lone Oak Road early yesterday morning visiting with people he knew. At some point he left the house, then his car went down the driveway and smashed through a fence before careening down a hill. It came to rest in a wooded area at the bottom of the hill. The coroner hasn't released a cause of death, but the Rockcastle County Sheriff's Office says it was a homicide. William Mink says he can't imagine Bullock would be involved in anything that could have gotten him killed.

"If he was involved in any kind of criminal activity or anything like that, I sure didn't know about it. I can tell you this, he was real dedicated to taking care of his father. His father had some sickness and Jackie always took care of him. Put his father first in all things that I know of," he says.

Right now, authorities say they don't have a suspect. Mink says he just has one question.

"It just makes me wonder why. Some things I don't understand," he says.

Yesterday, Bobby Peters was arrested at the house for manufacturing methamphetamine. Investigators say he's not a person of interest in the homicide.
