Man is arrested for stealing metal plates from railroad tracks

Police arrest a man for stealing metal plates from railroad tracks.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office charged 36-year-old Jeffery Root with receiving stolen property and public intoxication.

Deputies tell us they arrested him after finding 29 metal plates in his SUV.

The plates go between the crossties and the tracks.

Investigators think they came from a CSX railroad.

The plates are worth about $20 apiece.
