Man pleads guilty to murder

A Floyd County man pleads guilty to murdering Brian Jacob Gayheart earlier this year.

Benjamin Meek accepted a plea deal in exchange for a 23 year sentence.

Police say in May, Gayheart was beaten and then thrown into the Big Sandy River in Prestonsburg.

His body was found weeks later in Boyd county.

Meek pleaded guilty to murder, robbery, assault, and tampering with physical evidence.

He will be sentenced on November 22nd.
