Kentucky State Police are looking for a motive in a shooting between two men in Bell County.

The shooting happened late this afternoon in the Hurst Hollow community.

When police got to the scene, they found a man shot at his home.
The victim told them another man, Kenneth Carter, was the one who shot him.

Police found Carter at his home in Brownies Creek and took him into custody.

He is currently being treated at Pineville Community Hospital.

Police expect to charge him with assault, a crime they said is highly uncommon in such a tight knit community.

"Hurst Hollow is a small community like many of the communities in Bell County. It's a smaller rural area, and it's not the kind of place where we normally have these kind of happenstances," said Joel Woods of the Kentucky State Police.

Kentucky State Police have not released the name of the victim. They told us they are waiting until his family is notified. He was air-lifted to a hospital in Tennessee this afternoon.
