A search is underway for a Johnson County man accused of assaulting a woman and then running from police.

Sheriff Deputies say Kie Castle has a lengthy criminal history and is now missing in the Tutor Key area.

Sunday night, Johnson County Sheriff's Deputy Tim Clark went to a home on Route 581 to answer a woman's call for help.

"Being held against her will at a residence out at Tutor Key, advised she'd been assaulted earlier that day," Clark said.

He says when he arrived the woman had visible injuries. A toddler was also there but not injured.

Clark says he found Kie Castle drunk and appeared as if he was going to hurt the woman again.

"After probably five to ten minutes of me negotiating and explaining to him what was going on, telling him he was going to have to go to jail with me, he fled out the door," said Clark.

Clark and several other deputies went after him. "We lost him in the hills somewhere. We don't know where he is at," said Clark.

Officers continue to search but have not found him.

They do not think Castle has any weapons with him, but he has a lengthy criminal history so they want to find him as soon as possible.

Investigators think he is still in Johnson County. They say if anyone sees him, to not approach him and call police.

Deputies say the woman and her toddler will be okay and are in a safe place while Castle is missing.
