Martin County man will spend 10 years in prison on manslaughter charge

INEZ, Ky. (WYMT) - A Martin County man charged with manslaughter will spend 10 years behind bars.

Prosecutors argued Billie Evans was driving under the influence when he lost control of his car along Route 292 in Warfield and hit a tree.

His friend in the truck, 21 year old Irvin Spaulding, died at the scene.

Police say Evans failed field sobriety tests and said he was drinking earlier.

DUI charges were dismissed in the case.
