JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT) - Some may have had to spend their Christmas Eve at work, but the mayor of one city is trying to make work a little more festive this year.

For officers at the Jackson Police department, it's a quiet night.

But even if the scanner is empty of traffic, their break table is full.

Potato salad, coleslaw, ham, beans, and cake covered one of the tables in the Jackson City Hall.

City Mayor, Rose Wolfe, has made sure those working through the Christmas holiday will not go hungry.

It was one of three meals she made this Christmas; one for her own family and two for those on duty.

“While I was preparing theirs I went ahead and cooked my family's as well so I just double cooked everything,” said Wolfe.

She said officers should not have to celebrate the holidays with their usual diet.

“They're eating on the go, and I just felt like Christmas Eve and Christmas Day they shouldn't be eating fast food they should be eating a home cooked meal,” said Wolfe, which is something that means a lot to those on duty.

“It makes you feel appreciated especially when the mayor takes time out of her busy schedule to fix us dinner,” said Patrolman Brian Haddix.

A schedule the mayor said was not nearly as important as the work being done by her officers.

“Their job ensures that everybody else can be at home with their
Families and be safe,” she said.

It's a job made a little bit easier by a table full of food.
