BARDSTOWN, Ky. (AP) - Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell
says the presidential election will boil down to whether voters
blame President Obama for making a difficult economic situation
McConnell predicted in a speech Wednesday that Republicans will
choose a presidential nominee who is both credible and electable.
But McConnell didn't handicap the GOP race on the day after
former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the Iowa caucuses by a
McConnell outlined a possible Republican strategy that
acknowledges Obama inherited a tough financial situation but then
made it worse. McConnell said that if voters agree, Obama will lose
in November. If not, Obama will win a second term.
The longtime Kentucky senator made the comments in a speech in
Bardstown before local business leaders.
