FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Retiring state Sen. Vernie McGaha is
encouraging voters in southern Kentucky's 15th District to choose
Republican Mark Polston as his replacement in Frankfort.
McGaha, one of Kentucky's most ardent social conservatives
during 15 years in the legislature, said Polston is a man of
"very, very high character and morals."
Polston, a Somerset businessman, faces Chris Girdler, an aide to
U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers in the May 22 GOP primary.
With no Democrats running in the heavily Republican district,
the race will be decided in the primary.
