Meeting set to discuss methamphetamine in Hazard

A public meeting later this month in Hazard could impact the drug epidemic in a positive way.

The Hazard Police Department and Operation UNITE officials are teaming up to raise methamphetamine awareness.

The public forum will educate people on what meth is and how to recognize this drug.

Police hope it helps them crack down on methamphetamine usage in Hazard.

"If they know what to look for, then they could possibly help us to do some early intervention to where it doesn't really affect someone's life or someone's family," said Major James East with the Hazard Police Department.

The meeting is May 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the Perry County Library.
