Memorial 5K in honor of young woman

Updated: Mon 9:13 AM, Nov 14, 2011

Just three years ago, 40-year-old Michelle Litteral Brock of Corbin died of Huntington's Disease.

For the third year in a row, dozens gathered and ran in her honor and for awareness in Whitley County.

Huntington's Disease is a genetic, neurological disorder that attacks the muscles and leads to the inability to walk, talk, and eat.

This disease does not have a cure or even treatment.

Michelle's family is humbled by people's participation in the 5K every year.

"It's always bittersweet because she's not with us, but I'm also very encouraged and feel the love of the people that knew her and how much she influenced lives," said Anna Litteral, Michelle's mother.

The event raised more than 4,000 dollars which will all go to research for Huntington's Disease.
