Memorial proposed for Kentucky troops killed in action

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky soldiers killed in action in Iraq
and Afghanistan would be listed on a war memorial under a proposal
pending in the state legislature.

Democratic state Reps. Tom McKee of Cynthiana and Mike Denham of Maysville filed a bill on Tuesday that would honor the more than 100 Kentucky soldiers killed in the two countries since the early 1990s.

McKee said it's time to develop the memorial "for those who
gave their all" now that the military has withdrawn from Iraq and
is getting closer to finishing in Afghanistan.

Denham said Kentucky soldiers have always done more than their
fair share during war time. He said their service over the past
decade is further proof of that.
