LESLIE COUNTY, Ky (WYMT) - Police found an active meth lab in a Leslie County trailer, just across the street from the county 911 center.

Officials say any meth lab can be dangerous, but the location of this drug bust made things even more concerning for police.

Late Friday night, police were called to the Beth Lane Trailer Park in Leslie County.

“As we entered the residence, the male subject was actually laying in the bed with an active meth lab,” said Leslie County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Mullins.

Police say they found Tommy Roberts trying hide the meth lab.

Roberts and Tracy Wooton were arrested and charged with manufacturing meth.

A HAZMAT crew cleaned out the home before it became a bigger problem for the neighborhood.

“The residents are 20 to30 feet apart. If one of these things were to go up there could be a lot of people harmed and property damaged,” said Mullins.

Police were not only concerned that they found the active lab in a trailer park, but also that it was just across the street from the Leslie County 911 Center.

Police were not the only ones worried.

“If something was to go wrong that's just two trailers down from here; so if something was to go wrong it's going to hit our trailer,” said Nancy Nantz, who lives close by.

Nantz says the drug bust makes her worry about the safety of her son, “It worries me because my young one used to go out and play with their little kid and she used to come out here."

This was the seventh meth lab police have found in the county within the last ten days.

They say they expect to find more with the help of other anonymous tips.
