MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - Middlesboro Police say they found meth ingredients in a car next to a baby!
Middlesboro Police say it started as a routine traffic stop in the Walmart parking lot on Saturday morning. An officer pulled a car over for a license plate violation. Police say then the officer found a couple in the car with meth ingredients next to a baby.
Police say the couple bags full of items needed to cook meth.
"Just about every ingredient needed to manufacture methamphetamine along with some of the equipment," said Lt. Tom Busic, Middlesboro Police Department.
The arrest citation says the couple had just bought the items.
Police say there was also an eight month old baby in the car right next to the meth ingredients.
"That's pretty troubling, very troubling," said Lt. Busic.
Police arrested the driver, 31-year-old Sherry Conley and the passenger, 30-year-old Delbert Roark. Police charged them with manufacturing meth.
"Even though the chemicals hadn't been mixed yet, they were going somewhere to sell to someone to cook it or they were going to manufacture it themselves,' said Lt. Busic.
Both Conley and Roark are being in the Bell County Detention Center. Bond for both is $100,000 full cash.
Middlesboro Police say another family member took custody of the baby following the arrests.
