Miner claims he was fired for pointing out safety issues

A federal investigator says a safety director at a Leslie County strip mine was fired because he pointed out safety problems.

The U.S. Department of Labor wants the miner, Jonathan Gregory, reinstated while he pursues a claim that he was improperly fired by T&T Energy.

Under federal mining law, Gregory's complaint is a discrimination claim.

The agent for T&T Energy in London did not return a phone call.
