Mingo County man accused of biting 10 month old step son

MINGO COUNTY, Wv. - (WYMT/WOWK) - A man is in jail, charged with biting his step-child several times in Mingo County.

In a news release released by the West Virginia State Police, we're told officers arrested Bobby Lee Thomas, 20, of Gilbert, WV earlier this week on child abuse charges.

The news release states that at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, Senior Trooper J. D. Matheny, with the Williamson Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, responded to Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky about a call of a 10 month-old male child who had been bitten several times.

Police say Matheny developed probable cause to arrest the child's step-father, Thomas.

It is believed that Thomas bit his child in an attempt to keep him from crying further.

Thomas was arraigned at the Mingo County Magistrate Court and is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail.

His bond is set at $30,000.
