Mingo County man killed in WV mine accident

BOONE COUNTY, W Va. (WYMT) - A Mingo County, West Virginia man is dead following a mine accident.

Officials say 63 year old Asa Fitzpatrick of Kermit was killed Wednesday after a piece of the ceiling in a Boone County mine fell on him.

It happened while he was getting ready to install a rib bolt at the Peerless Rachel mine in Racine.

Five miners have died in West Virginia since the beginning of the year.
