A mother from Mingo County, West Virginia, charged in the death of her 2-year-old child will spend up to 15 years in prison.
Cristy Chafin pleaded guilty last week to child neglect resulting in death. The judge sentenced her to 3 to 15 years in prison.
Last summer Chafin's 2-year-old son Christopher was found dead in er Gilbert apartment. The cause of death was never released.
Chafin's boyfriend, James Simpson, was also charged in the case, but the charges are still pending, according to a spokesperson with the Mingo County Prosecutor's Office.
Simpson was never indicted.
