Miss Eastern KY visits area schools

HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - Miss Eastern Kentucky was in Perry County Wednesday traveling around to area schools.

Whittney Allen spoke to students in Perry County about her platform which raises awareness for bullying.

She talked to students about her experience with bullying when she was in school and encouraged students to be an active bystander and help others.

"When I was in school, I dealt with this. And I think by going into these schools, not only as a big group, but one on one and to have that connection and let them know the importance of being a bystander and to give them someone to talk to, it really benefits them in the long run," said Allen.

Whittney is from Salyersville, and she will be competing for Miss Kentucky, United States in February.
