LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The University of Louisville is moving 270 students out of a residence hall where high levels of mold spores were found.
U of L says environmental specialists found elevated levels of mold spores in many areas of 48-year-old Miller Hall after a student reported it in late September.
The spores have been preliminarily identified as aspergillus and penicillium. U of L says at normal levels, they but can be irritating and cause problems for people with certain health conditions. The school says the level found, however, was high, prompting the decision to move the students.
Most students will move to other U of L housing or hotel rooms, but area students are being asked to move home. The dorm is expected to be closed for the rest of the semester.
