Jack and Jennifer Roberts were arrested Wednesday night after a three month long investigation by multiple agencies.
We were there as the two were brought in by Chief Chris Fultz and the Manchester City Police.
Operation UNITE was one of the key players in building the case against the Roberts'.
"He was elected to protect the public, not sell drugs to members of his community," said Dan Smoot with Operation UNITE.
Jack Roberts' home down Bald Knob Road, as well as a business were searched by authorities, where drugs and a gun Smoot says was present during the alleged drug deals was found.
Smoot says this kind of bust couldn't be made as easily without cooperation from other law enforcement agencies.
"You can accomplish so much more when the city, the county, the state, the feds, everybody cooperates. We have fantastic luck in Clay County, and we're all striving for the same thing," said Smoot.
Some county officials acknowledge this isn't the first time elected officials have faced federal charges.
"Well I'm definitely disappointed and I guess you could say embarrassed. But some of those things that people do are beyond our control, we can't do anything with. But it does leave a black eye on the county," said county Judge Executive Joe Asher.
Both Jack and Jennifer Roberts declined to comment from the Laurel County Detention Center.
Operation UNITE officials say Jack Roberts sold hydrocodone pills to undercover officers on several occasions.
