Dozens of Kentucky soldiers are back in the Bluegrass today.
Around 70 members of the Kentucky Army National Guard's 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade returned to Richmond Wednesday morning.
They greeted family and friends at the new Kentucky National Guard Armed Forces Reserve Center.
Their deployment was originally supposed to be from last June until next June.
However, the soldiers left Iraq after the war there ended last week.
"How could you ask for anything more? Family and everything around you, makes it all worth it," said Spc. Chris Bishop.
A commanding officer told us every soldier in the unit returned injury-free from the Victory Base Complex in Baghdad.
Their final orders from commanding officers were to have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
