Mother, grandmother charged in infant's death

A grandmother charged with her grandson's death says she didn't do it.

The Johnson County Commonwealth's Attorney charged 65-year-old Alice Stambaugh and her 34-year-old daughter, Heather Stambaugh, with manslaughter. Court records state back in November, the grandmother and mother gave 5-month-old Draven Stambaugh an overdose of Benadryl and Soma.

"I helped take care of the baby, but I didn't help hurt him," says Alice Stambaugh, "The truth is I didn't do it, and the truth is I never saw or heard anything that would tell me who did it."

Alice Stambaugh says she went to wake the baby up, and found him dead.

She admits the baby had medicine for gas in the days before his death, but she says she never gave him Benadryl.

"I gave him love. He was my baby," Alice Stambaugh said. " I miss him every day. He was precious."

Heather Stambaugh is being held on a $10,000 in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
