Motorcycle ride for autism

Today a motorcycle convoy rode from Whitesburg to Jenkins to raise money for teaching people in Letcher County how to take care of children with autism.

The Autism Awareness Ride is in its fifth year, and organizers say past rides have raised $4,000 for autism organizations. This year's money will go to autism care training for teachers and parents in Letcher County.

"When my son was diagnosed at five, which was eight years ago, there was nothing here and we had to drive. So I'm hoping that getting this training started that there will be more resources here for them to have more understanding," said Jaclyn Burke, who is an organizer of the event and has a son with autism.

The Center for Disease Control says one out of 88 children in the US will be diagnosed with autism this year.
