The rain will transition over to snow as we head into mid to late morning across the area. We will see the chances for light accumulation in the valley areas with 1-3" possible on the ridge tops above 2000 feet. Slick spots are possible on untreated roads. While significant snow is not expected, we have issued a Severe Weather Alert Day to keep you informed on possible negative impacts to travel through Tuesday afternoon.
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT)- UPDATE: I-75 is now open after the accident in Whitley County near the 18 mile marker.
We have a traffic alert for you. Approximately 12 vehicles are involved in a collision on I-75 southbound at mile marker 18.
Kentucky State Police and Whitley County crews are currently on the scene.
Officials tell us all southbound lanes are closed at this time. Officials aren't sure how long the road will be closed.
We're told there are some injuries, but we aren't sure of the extent at this time.
At 6 p.m., state transportation officials say they expected the southbound lanes to be closed for at least two more hours.
