NASHVILLE, Tn. (WYMT/WTVF) - A 9-year-old child was killed after coming into contact with live downed power lines in south Nashville Thursday night.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday near 585 Charles E. Davis Boulevard just north of Lafayette Street. The child was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Officials were unable to say if the child was out trick-or-treating when the incident happened.
Emergency medical technicians from the Nashville Fire Department and officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to the scene.
The child's identity was not released.
The Nashville Electric Service reported on their outage map online that crews had been dispatched to the area where the child was struck to take care of the downed line.
