Many areas are still dealing with flooding, even as snow and sleet start to replace the rain. Some of the local major rivers are above flood stage and still rising. The good news is, many of the others have crested and will start to fall. The snow and sleet will continue through much of the day, before wrapping up tonight. Most areas will see several inches of accumulation. Keep it locked to WYMT for updates.
Thursday afternoon, during UK's game, fans paused to applaud a team other than the Wildcats.
"I've never been applauded on such a large scale," says Sergeant Christopher Tackett.
Sgt. Tackett was one of the soldiers in the 201st Engineer Battalion accepting the valorus unit award streamer, presented to his Kentucky National Guard unit by Governor Steve Beshear. The unit disposed of more than 200,000 landmines and IEDs in Afghanistan.
"For them to receive this honor is really something special for Kentucky," says Governor Beshear.
"Just to stand on the basketball court of the Kentucky Wildcats, my home state, the best state in the country, with the Kentucky National Guard to receive that award was just amazing," says Spc. John Howard.
