LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Jefferson Memorial Forest is offering a chance for families to learn more about camping out and connecting with nature. The Great American Campout starts at 7 p.m. EDT Saturday and runs through 11 a.m. Sunday as part of a nationwide event that happens each year on the fourth Saturday in June.
Participants will enjoy a campfire, s'mores, night hikes and other activities and may bring their own dinners to cook over an open fire, if they arrive by 5:30 p.m. A limited number of tents will be available for rent.
On Sunday, campers can explore the forest or the Environmental Education Center or go fishing with poles that will be provided. The cost is $25 for families up to four people. For more information, call (502) 368-5404.
