WHITESBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - The Letcher County Area Technology Center displayed a brand new piece of equipment today.

"Medi-Man" is a human simulator that helps teach students how to diagnose and treat patients.

The "Medi-Man" even has a heartbeat and can breathe and talk as if it were a real person.

The simulator comes with software that allows the dummy to be programmed with diseases and illnesses.

Students said they were excited to use the new tool.

“Vital signs will definitely be a lot easier. Usually we have to practice on each other to do vital signs and the equipment's limited, and this is definitely going to help us out a lot,” said student Taylor Johnson.

The simulator was purchased with the Center's latest Perkins Grant.
