Rounds of heavy rain will begin to move into the area later tonight, leading to the increased potential for flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area from now through Thursday and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, temperatures will drop and transition our rain to sleet and eventually to snow. Most of the area could see several inches of snow and sleet before it's all said and done. Keep it locked right here for updates.
We have received a first look of what could change at Fayette Mall after Sears closes at the end of the year.
According to the Lexington Division of Planning, leaders at the mall have submitted a plan that would divide the former Sears store up into three sections for new stores and restaurants with a walkway connecting both sides of the mall.
Blueprints for the project show the front and back entrances would be expanded out into the parking lot and what's now the second floor of Sears would no longer be used for business.
Plans also call for a new restaurant in the parking lot near the Nicholasville Road and West Reynolds intersection.
Mall officials have not said what new businesses could replace Sears.
