A slow moving cold front will bring rain back to the mountains Tuesday afternoon and evening. Some storms could contain heavy rain and could lead to new flash flooding. Keep an eye on water levels in flood prone areas and do not cross flooded roadways.
Could a new outlet mall be coming to Central Kentucky? WKYT has learned about a proposed project that would create many new jobs.
A Michigan company wants to build an outlet mall just off Interstate 64 in Simpsonville, that's in Shelby County. The mall will be called The Outlet Shoppes at Louisville/Lexington.
"We're excited about the possibility, we're just waiting to see, again, it's a possibility so we're waiting to see what happens," explained Simpsonville City Administrator David Eaton, "we don't look at it as just Simpsonville. We look at it in terms of what's best for Shelby County and one of the things that they did tell us is this could bring upwards to a thousand jobs and that would be great for Shelby County and also for surrounding areas."
The business behind the building, The Horizon Group, says the shops would make up nine buildings. They've already applied for a permit to start construction on the land. Their website says they're now leasing.
Horizon Group Properties hosts outlet stores like Coach, Banana Republic, and Nike.
Developers have not yet released a time line on construction.
